The Blind Kitchen 11694 North Island Cove Lane Portland, OR 97217 Ph: 503-313-2345 Email: info@theblindkitchen.com https://theblindkitchen.com April 10, 2024 Subject: Nomination of “White Canes Connect” Podcast for the Dr. Jacob Bolotin Award Dear Awards Committee: Thank you for giving me the opportunity to express my gratitude for the important contributions that the “White Canes Connect” podcast adds to the Blind Community. They are of the highest quality of podcast in terms of both content and quality of production. They have guests from many corners of the Blind Community on a variety of important topics related to health, the arts, and examples of blind people who have interesting stories to tell and give hope to listeners with vision loss who may not have considered such possibilities for themselves. Their style of asking thoughtful and intelligent questions is unique. I know this from personal experience as a guest on the podcast. Some of the questions asked of me were of aspects of my experiences as a blind chef and business entrepreneur that had not crossed my mind. I have been fortunate to have been a guest on multiple podcasts since The Blind Kitchen opened about a year and a half ago, and I can personally attest that each podcast has its own personality and style. I really enjoy listening to how they extract interesting and helpful information for a wide variety of listeners with vision loss. Thank you for considering my strong support that this award be given to “White Canes Connect”. Sincerely, respectfully and without reservation, Debra Erickson, MS Executive Chef and Founder The Blind Kitchen
